1. US4042196: Method and apparatus for triggering a substantial change in earth characteristics and measuring earth changes - patent.womplex.ibm.com/details?pn10=US04042196
There is disclosed method and apparatus for triggering a substantial change in ionospheric characteristics of the earth and measuring certain selected characteristics of the earth. Substantial energetic particle precipitation is triggered through injection of low energy ionized gas, such as hydrogen, in the region of large fluxes of energetic particles in or near the magnetic equator.
The loss process is known to occur naturally but a triggered change is achieved through injection of larger amounts of low-energy ionized gas than are naturally present, preferably in the cusp region, which usually extends inside the synchronous orbit for several hours about local midnight.
2. US4402480: Atmosphere modification satellite
The Atmosphere Modification Satellite is intended to be the beginning of a possible world-wide network of satellites designed to improve Earth through application of techniques and monitoring resulting in atmosphere modification. Energy sources of said satellite consist of: solar, electrical, energy particle beam(s), laser and magnetohydrodynamics (MHD). At proper plane(s) of orbit, the satellite is capable of identifying target areas and administering "M-Probes" to monitor, sample and/or modify the atmosphere. There is no limit to the number of types of of atmosphere modification the satellite will perform.
3. WO9738570A1: AN ATMOSPHERIC INVERSION LAYER DESTABILIZER APPARATUS
An atmospheric inversion layer destabilizer apparatus is using the energy of the water vapor present in the earth's atmosphere to destabilize an atmospheric inversion layer, as a way to disperse the air pollutants concentrated below the inversion layer, in time to prevent photochemical reactions and smog formation. The apparatus may also be used to alleviate frost, disperse fog, and control the atmosphere's composition above of a limited geographic area. The apparatus is using a ring balloon (26) filled with lighter than air gas, to elevate vertically in the atmosphere an air transport shuttle (42), and a control platform (122) to control the altitude and the ascending and descending speed of the air transport shuttle (42) via a verticalcable (102) attached to the air transport shuttle (42) and wounded on a motorized reel (146)
4. US4653690: Method of producing cumulus clouds patent.womplex.ibm.com/details?pn10=US04653690
The disruption of a thermal inversion and formation of cumulus clouds is induced by the ignition of a pyrotechnic composition containing an alkali earth metal. The combined heats of hydration, condensation and combustion of the composition disrupt the thermal layer allowing the passage of warm moist air into a zone of cooler air. The formation of cumulonimbus or cumulus clouds results.
5. EP628628A1: ICE NUCLEUS PRODUCING BACTERIUM, CULTURE OF SAID BACTERIUM, ICE NUCLEUS PRODUCING SUBSTANCE CONTAINING SAID BACTERIUM, AND USE OF SAID SUBSTANCE
6. US3608810: METHODS OF TREATING ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS
Methods of treating atmospheric conditions including dispensing in the atmosphere surfactants, water-soluble polyelectrolytes or mixtures thereof, methods of dispersing fog by dispensing fog-coalescent materials around an unstable spot in the fog and by dispensing fog-coalescent materials in a substantially straight path through an area to be cleared, and methods of increasing rain by dispensing surfactants, water-soluble polyelectrolytes or mixtures thereof around an unstable spot in a cloud.
7. US4999637: Creation of artificial ionization clouds above the earth
A method for forming a cloud of artificial ionization above the earth by initially heating the resident plasma at a desired altitude with electromagnetic radiation having a frequency approximately the same as that of the ambient plasma. As the plasma frequency increases due to heating, the radiation frequency is also increased until the final maintenance frequency is attained.
